When I wrote yesterday’s post, I knew there was another site I wanted to mention…

The University of Melbourne recently launched the loftily-titled blog Opinions on High. (You can read the announcement here.)

For many years, the leading blog discussing the workings and decisions of the superior appellate court of a particular country has been that of the Supreme Court of the USA, SCOTUSblog. Not far behind is the Supreme Court of Canada, simply called The Court. And New Zealand’s Supreme Court has the NZSCblog, while more recently, the new UK Supreme Court got UKSCblog.

Jeremy Gans, who occasionally offers insightful comments here, is one of the contributors. He tells me they hope to post about special leave applications and results, and dates of appeals and judgments when they have the information available. It should be an extremely helpful resource for anyone interested in High Court proceedings. (Also, don’t overlook Law Geek Down Under blog as an excellent alert for pending High Court judgments and analysis of new decisions.)

All of these blogs offer RSS — really simple syndication — which will push updates to an RSS client, rather than you having to remember to check the sites for updates. Since Google killed Google Reader, its free RSS service, a number of new services have sprung up. Probably the best one now is Feedly, which offers web-based, iOS and Android clients, and a sync service across all your devices. But, if you read your RSS feeds on the iPad, I still reckon the best app is Mr Reader. You can see some of Don McAllister’s screencast about it on ScreenCastsOnline here.
